Monarch of the Plains is a frameless Lumachrome Trulife print on acrylic, 36 × 54 inches, from an edition of 6. Printed to archival standard.
The photograph
The grassland giant.
Solio Game Reserve was founded in 1970 as Kenya's first private rhino sanctuary. Rhinos bred here have gone on to parks and conservancies across Kenya, including Ol Pejeta.
The southern white rhino was down to fewer than 100 animals in the late 1800s. Today there are more than 15,000.
I photographed this one on the open plain at Solio in 2023.
The edition
Each print is signed and numbered by the artist. The edition is limited to 6 at this size.
