The photograph
Her line.
Najin was born in a zoo in the Czech Republic and has lived at Ol Pejeta in Kenya since 2009. Her father, Sudan, was the last male northern white rhino. He died in 2018. Her daughter, Fatu, is the only other one left.
Scientists are working to bring the species back through embryos.
I photographed her at Ol Pejeta in the summer of 2023.
